Summer Time = Happy Time

So as I lay in my bed, I being to think about summer and how each summer for the past 5 years has ended up with a fall following it. Now you are probably saying, duh...fall always comes after summer but what I mean is that each summer followed with a collegiate fall...and now not so much.
As a graduate of the lovely, amazing and fantastic MSU - I am now working 40 hours a week split between an unpaid internship (my third one) and a part time temp position. My two roommates and best friends from high school are living with me and everyday we sit together with a glass of wine in one had and wonder what is going to happen next. First we begin by being so happy that it is summer...but as the wine kicks in more things come out like:
How are our lives going to change? Are we going to move before August? Will we get a job with benefits? Will we meet a great guy? Should we stay in state or adventure to unknown territory? Will we see each other? Can we afford all of our bills? Loans kick in soon - how are we suppose to pay for those?
It's that unknown that drives me crazy night after night...and all I begin to wish for is either:
  1. College life to return.
  2. A wonderful job to appear.
  3. Free sessions with a therapist to calm the nerves.
But as I lay here in my bed, I realize that I am lucky. I have it together and the best part is I believe in myself and the fact that I know a plan is going to be happening - all in good time. I have worked hard for the past 5 years in college, met people, acquired internships, challenged myself and now have a great resume to show for it. All I can do is push myself to show someone else what an amazing employee I can be for them. I know I have it in me -so now I just have to do it!
I think summer and especially this summer with be great. To be surround by amazing friends and family, people that care about me and people I deeply care for. These people are what will make this next step for me a special one. I have come to understand life is way to short to sit around and be sad. Things happen and it’s life. Yes of course bad thing, and well very hard things come down our path - but seeing the beauty and the insight within those hard times are what get us through them. But this summer is a special summer because I have amazing friends and family to share my next steps into the future with.
As my friend Chelsea would say, ‘Bottom line’.... the waiting period is not always that bad. If you look at what you have and you step outside of you body for one brief moment, you might come to realize how lucky and blessed you really are. Life works in mysterious ways. Hang in there. You can do it. I can do it. We can do it!
Cheers To You! Cheers To Life! Happy Summer!
